Big Beers on the Virginia Line!

beerinator.com forums member GCBrewingCo supplied us with a nice tidbit of news that he gathered from the Triangle’s closest high gravity beer store. Southern Gourmet (BeerAdvocate reviews) located at 220 Mount Cross Rd in Danville, Virginia seems to be adding some good beers to their line-up. It appears that they’re adding a few well known Belgian beers, and some beers from the Unibroue line.

Danville is about 54 miles from downtown Chapel Hill, and about 120 miles from downtown Raleigh. This seems to be a much shorter trip than traveling to Richmond, so if you’re looking to stock your ‘cellar’ with some of these beers you’ll have a different option.

From the email, I gather that they’re seeing quite a few North Carolinians perusing their shelves looking for some high alcohol beers. Click ‘read more’ for a direct quote of the new beers they plan to start offering.

“We will be moving our store the first of the year.with more visibility! Although business has been steadily growing for us, hiding in this basement is certainly a downside finding us!

We now have 25 beers with 6% or higher Alc. AND we are still adding! Our support from our NC neighbors has been great! (not sure if you are a wine drinker, but our wine selection is now nearing 900 as well!)

I guess we need to start supporting this place, since Pop The Cap can’t attack our 6% law until 2005!
