Fellow Beer Lovers,
Welcome to the launch of the new Four Points by Sheraton, Chief Beer Officer Blog. So, after a long search by the Four Points team I finally got the CBO position. I can’t believe that I am the first person to ever have this job, and I am really excited. Just a few months ago I was thinking about how awesome this job would be and now that it has started, I can see I was right. I have plenty of great stuff planned for the coming months, and luckily some things I’ve already been able to get started on.
Just a few weeks ago, I hosted a Happy Hour beer & food pairing at the Four Points by Sheraton in Denver, CO. You can check out some of the picks of this awesome event by clicking here. We had well over one hundred people and everyone had a great time. There was talk of throwing some Brewers Association members in the pool. The entire night was amazingly fun and I am already getting excited about the next one. I’ll be hosting more of these in the coming months so check back here to find out all the details. And when I come to your neighborhood, make sure you don’t miss out on all the fun, food and of course tasty local beer.
I also just got done talking with the Los Angeles Times. The interview should be in the Sunday Business section soon. I can’t tell you how great all the publicity has been. In fact I have even started getting recognized when I go to better beer bars. It’s also incredible that such a publication recognizes the importance of craft beer and even happier to be the one to tell people about it.
Another cool part of the job so far has been getting to help the Four Points Food and Beverage Team with their Best Brews training program. I made a few suggestions and everyone seems happy with the results. Each hotel has now focused their selection of beers to make sure you get the best regional and national craft beers. In addition, each hotel’s Beer Ambassador can now answer any question you might have about ales and lagers. The next time you walk into a Four Points, check out the selection, grill the best brews ambassador and let me know what you think.
Of course it is not all work there are some perks too, like beer getting shipped right to my door. I thought I had life good before but now I’m the most popular guy on the block. All that initial jealousy from my friends has turned into a fun way for me to meet new people. After all, what better way to share all this beer than to invite new friends over to drink it?
Oh, and there was also the amazing experience of shooting a commercial with Michael Ian Black. Once the editors are done putting all the final touches on it I’ll make sure to post it here for you guys to check out. (You can tell me if I’m a good actor or not). I’ll also throw in some of the hysterical out takes.
Make sure you keep coming back to [fourpointscbo.com] . I’m going to be bringing you some behind the scene tours of breweries throughout the US, interviews with world class brewers, pics and highlights of Oktoberfest and the Great American Beer Festival, plus information on new release beers (and what they taste like). These will be beers that I’ll be the first to tell you about, before anyone else even knows they are brewing. So not only will I get to give you lots of info, but they’ve given me a camcorder so I can get it all on tape. So, bookmark this page and don’t forget to book your next hotel stay at a Four Points. After all, I just might be there to buy your next round.
Cheers!
